Scientific notation refers to decimal numbers written in the form m × 10n. In normalized scientific notation, the coefficient m is greater than or equal to 1 and less than 10. The number ten is called the base, and the exponent n is an integer. Besides the aforementioned notation using superscript, the scientific way to express large and big numbers may also be achieved using a caret: m × 10^n, or e-notation: me±n, all of which is detailed on our home page. Here on the category pages you can find many numbers which we have converted into scientific notation, and every post includes a scientific notation converter. What’s more is that you could also use our search form to locate numbers in scientific notation. You may find the form in the sidebar, or at the bottom if you are using a mobile device; looking up numbers written as powers of 10 that way may be more efficient than scrolling through all our category pages.
